Seppuku FX Mind Warp Revival

I am a fan of Seppuku FX, and even hoarding them a bit. Quirky devices, ahead of their time, they have quite a strong following among the IFYYK crowd.

I saw this hand-painted Mindwarp on Reverb, marked as non-functioning. The description and price were quite honest, so I decided I would have a take on this. The seller stated that the PT2399 was most likely an issue and that replacing it could probably have the unit going. Yes and no, and it would be too good to be true, especially as it is socketed.
The problem was in the voltage converter soldered backwards, which fried the chip. Strange, but the PCB doesn’t look like it had been messed with, but fact remains.

I spotted it quite fast - I have another Mindwarp with exactly the same board, so it was quite easy to spot it. I replaced the converter, the chip, and, since I was already soldering/desoldering, the LED with its resistor to make it brighter. Yellow seems to be more fitting for this enclosure. New knobs to complete the looks.
