AMCO Tube Screamer Build: Perfboard, NOS components & Modifications

If we’re already talking Tube Screamers - here’s my very first perfboard build, which turned out to be a Tube Screamer. I believe this was from somewhere around 2023.

I disassembled it today to have the enclosure repainted in our signature blue metal color, so I thought it would be a good opportunity to share some build closeups.It will also receive an upgraded Lumberg DC jack, since I’m not a big fan of the original 3.5mm socket.

Once reassembled, we will shoot it out against the stock TS808 and TS10 - there are some differences in the sound. I have changed a couple of values and the IC, and the clipping diodes are entirely different - NOS D220 in this case. Also, I have a very early JRC4558 in my vault kept specifically for this project (currently a modern equivalent is installed).
