Our modded DS-1BK (oscillator) + So High So Low (resonant filter), both synced to the same CV source, are playing together as a single system 🏴☠️
This DS-1 came in with someone's previous work - they had clipped off the D1 protection diode. Not the cleanest approach, but since we were already opening it up, seemed like a good opportunity for further modification. The base work follows Brian Wampler's DS-1 "vintage mod" from his course.
His mod sounds good, but we wanted to add some extra functionality. Two switches were added. First switch changes the clipping characteristics: NOS Germanium, no diodes, LED; second switch bends the circuit so the DS-1 can work as an oscillator instead of just distortion.
We also wired in a CV input jack. This allows external control from sequencers like the Korg SQ-1 or Arturia devices. When in oscillator mode, you can control the pitch externally. The pedal still works as a normal DS-1, but now has these additional modes for experimental use, and can be synced with other devices.
